Alternative Solutions
Alternative Solutions may be formulated to meet the Performance Requirements of the BCA in lieu of meeting the prescriptive Deemed-to-Satisfy provisions of the BCA. This allows for freedom in design and cost savings where a buildings fire safety performance can be assessed on a first principals basis rather than through generic legislative codes.
Compliance with the performance requirements of the BCA may be demonstrated qualitatively or quantitatively through providing evidence and calculations, a verification method, by providing a comparison with the Deemed-to-Satisfy provisions or by Expert Judgement.
